Growth of Population
The population of Jiribam town is increasing very rapidly. In 1951 the present town was only the seat of SDC’s office and its population was only 668. In 1961 when the SDC’s office of Jiribam was upgraded as Sub-divisional headquarter, its population rose to 1,458. The decadal population variation at Jiribam town during 1951-61 was 118.26%. The population of the town further rose to
3,518 in 1971 with a decadal variation of 141.28%. Jiri bazar, the then Sub-divisional Headquarter was given a status of town by declaring it as notified area in 1973. The population of the town further increased to 4,392 in 1981, 5946 in 1991 and 6423 in 2001. A recent House hold survey of Jiribam Municipal Council in 2006 gives the population figure of 7257.
Density
The gross density of Jiribam town was 1099 persons per Sq.km in 1971. The density of population rose to 2007 persons per Sq.km in 2001. The projected figure for 2031 is 4,308 persons per Sq.km.

Sex Ratio:
Sex ratio is generally expressed as the total number of females per 1000 of males in a particular locality. It is influenced by many factors like work participation, immigration and migration, etc. The sex ratio in the town gradually increased from 917 in 1971 to 1,042 females per 1000 males in 2001 as shown in the Table below. However, there is a marginal decline in the sex ratio to 1,034 females per 1000 males in the Household survey conducted by the Jiribam Municipal Council in 2006.
